New countries in Woozor

Hi there,

since I got the post on Techcruch, I figure some countries on Woozor were missing (some people said it were missing Lebannon). So I added many, really many countries like Cuba, Montenegro, New Zeland, Bolivia, Venezuela, South and North Korea, Armenia, Cooks Islands... (juste some example of the 60 missing countries).

If you notice every missing countries, just let me know... I will do my best to add it...

Woozor.it now online...

I was not expecting it, but I get yesterday the translation file of
Woozor in Italian. I got some time tonight so I added it to the already
online Woozor.
You can consult it here http://woozor.it. I did not wait the new version
of Woozor because I'm rewriting everything for the at least third time.
The new plateform would be easier to maintain and should give me more
opportunity to export Woozor in other formats (RSS, ATOM, KML, iGoogle...).
So, I'm on it since 2 or 3 weeks but I'm far to be done. News will come
from this blog.
I also get the chinese translation file, it should be online soon (if
I'm motivated...).

Woozor is compatible with the new Google Chrome

Try out woozor with the new Google Chrome. It works really fine.
Two things about Google Chrome :
1. I was expecting Chrome were supporting KML better than it does. It
just downmload it as a text file :(
2. Same thing with RSS and ATOM : a nice text file.
Other thing, i just get the translation of Woozor in chinese. So you can
expect a new woozor.cn soon...

New release is coming

A new release is coming soon. You will get updates in KML and RSS File, a Google Earth interface, an XHTML website and more... The Italian translation is coming. So Italian will be happy !

Other thing, if someone want to help me to translate woozor in a langage that is not yet supported, just let me know. It would make me really happy :)

I know it's been a while (ok, 2 weeks) you didn't get some new release of woozor but i'm realy working on it. I'm trying to put the inteface fully compatible with CSS2. I really want to have a Woozor in arabic :). But sadly or hopefully, i need to inverse the interface for that :p. So it takes time. I promise, I will work on it and give you another nice version of Woozor.
During this time, enjoy the weather and holidays and share the website with your friend.

Hey, it's been a while...

I was a little busy for the last couple of weeks and that's why I did not post that much. Here is some news :

I don't know if you tried Woozor recently but it is going a lot faster ! Yep :) we change the server. We do have now a nice Core 2 Duo 2.2 64bit with not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 Go of RAM... I'm so glad, everything is going faster. In some case of pure PHP code, it is 3 time faster than before.

We also put online a new Woozor version. You will find now some simple link to add Google widgets to your iGoogle or website. We also add a nice footer with some friends links.

Something really interesting is that we now publish KML files for GoogleEarth. That permit you to see weather directly in GoogleEarth. Nice, isn't it ? I like it.

You will also notice that if you zoom in or out on a country, icon's size will change. We think it is more readable than before.

Ok, I think that's it for the woozor's news...

New google widget and next functionnalities...

Woozor is still waiting for his translation in Chinese. So I spend some time to create some new functionnalities to Woozor. Here is the NEW Moon Phase widget by Woozor that you can see at the left of your screen. This feature will also be added to the Woozor next release website. I'm also working on displaying nameday celebration. Perhaps it will come soon... Depends on my motivation.

I also corrected some bugs on the other widget (the GWeather one). So IE user will be able to enjoy it more.

Google Adsense not happy today...

Today, Google Adsense was down for many hours. The ads were still on the woozor website but the user click were not added... :(

I also fix a terrible bug today. I had a 406 error from Google on my robots.txt page.
Let me explain :
I have an htaccess which redirect robots.txt to robots.txt.php.
But my Apache server added on the HTTP Header the real location of the robots.txt ie : Content-Location: robots.txt.php :(
I changed the htaccess and the filename robots.txt.php to robots.php an that was fixed... Wired.
Just so you know, I spend like 2 hours on that.

New release online

The new release is now online... The woozor.es is on this release. The next woozor should be chinese or italian... German will come soon too... Makes me happy!

The next release will come when the spanish translation will be finish...
It will correct a couple of fixs and introduce some performance feature like cache.
That should permit a better time response (most SQL are avoid with this system).
I also introduce GMT things to be sure the date correspond to where the user connect.

How to block an IP on your server?

I was for a long time trying to block some ip on my server...
People are sad with me and want to connect to it even if they have no
rigth to do it.
They try several login like bar, computer... Bad people :op.
So I found that and it works well on my redhat :

The main idea is :
to block for everything : # iptables -A INPUT -s 65.55.44.100 -j DROP
to block for a port : # iptables -A INPUT -s 65.55.44.100 -p tcp

To see what are the IP already blocked, you can use iptables -L

I can't wait to put the new woozor online... So I did it today.
I just put online the french, english, american and belgium one.
When I will get the translation for the other woozor. I will sure put it
online and let you know here. :-)
A few more hour and the sitemap for google and other seach engine will
be online and that will be finish. Ouf!

not able to find out how to restart it correctly.

Shrinksafe

Thanks to shrinksafe, Woozor lose belly fat :op... Reducing the number
of HTTPRequest and the size of transfer... Thanks shrinksafe !!!
One thing, shrinksafe doesn't do file concatenation :( so you will have
to concatenate your js file all alone...
But it is pretty easy to use :
1. Download the jar on the link bellow

My hoster gave me a new IP this morning... So I configured it on the
server. I'm actually testing the configuration. I will update soon.
If it works fine, I will switch directly the woozor.co.uk in production

I know there is several people who are using my weather website. I'm happy to say that in the .fr one, we had last week obtain more the 3500 visits on Friday. Probably cause of the holliday in France...

Anyway, the new woozor is in developpement. I'm introducing several new domain :
